In the unfortunate event that an item has been lost and no current valuation exists, a post-loss assessment may be required. While not a formal valuation, this independent estimate is based on the information available and can be submitted to your insurer to support a replacement claim.

Probate Valuations (Confirmation of Will in Scotland)

Prepared for Inheritance Tax assessment by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC), probate valuations are required by the executor of an estate. These values reflect the likely achievable open market value of the jewellery at the date of death, in accordance with Section 160 of the Inheritance Act 1984.

Division of Assets Valuations

Commonly required in cases of divorce or separation, this valuation assists in the fair division of jewellery assets. It may also be used when distributing jewellery to beneficiaries as part of estate planning.
