When buying a diamond, there are four key factors that determine its value and appearance:
Cut — The proportions and angles that determine how brilliantly a diamond sparkles. A well cut diamond will always outshine a poorly cut one regardless of other grades.
Colour — The natural colour grade of the stone, ranging from colourless to light yellow. The less colour, the more valuable the diamond.
Clarity — The presence and position of inclusions within the stone. These natural characteristics affect both appearance and value.
Carat — The weight of the diamond. Carat has a significant influence on price, but must always be considered alongside the other three factors.
